Notes on the disposal of IT equipment and hard disks
Disposal of computers and printers
PCs are basically treated as electronic waste. Department 3 takes care of the disposal of old computers. For this purpose, the department has set up appropriate containers at various locations. You can ask your caretaker about the locations. Information is also available in the Vademecum (see LUH-Rundschreiben 43/2014 ).
If you need your own container, please contact Ms Petra Schmiedner. The disposal costs are borne by Department 3.
Certified hard disk disposal
Hard disks should be disposed separately. Security has priority here. The disks should be "zeroed" at least (recommended as long as the disks are still working). If you would like to hand in your disposal, Ms Schmiedner can put you in touch with a company that will take care of the disposal. The costs are borne by department 3.
LUIS takes over the collection and subsequent disposal of small quantities of hard disks (up to 10). You can simply return the disks to us at the information desk between 8 am and 4pm. We assure you the certified disposal (via the above mentioned procedure of department 3), but you will not receive a certificate from us.
